Aurelia “Alder” Wrenn (1994- ) is an interdisciplinary artist who uses photography, paper collage, and found objects to trace echoes of intimate life.
Born and raised in southern Maryland, Alder has lived and worked in southern Maine since 2018. Their artistic practices often involve dismantling imagery and reassembling it in more precarious ways, reflecting upon a sense of inner and outer misalignment. Their still lifes and portraits invoke themes of beauty, compulsion, and familiarity to evoke a sense of unlikely balance: cautious and careless, precious and mundane.
When not occupied with multiple projects at once, they can be found reading, baking, fussing over their plants, or snuggling with the nearest cat and/or dog.
